Lots of BAD local beers being made, but people drinking them because, "craft beer is hip." I'm talking beers with nasty off flavors that I would have been ashamed to serve my friends in my homebrewing days.

I actually think the Craft Beer scene is getting over saturated. The rest of the NW Ohio breweries range from mediocre (Maumee Bay) to absolute crap (Sugar Ridge).with most (Black Cloister, Black Swamp) shading closer to crap than mediocre. BG Beer Works in Bowling Green is a very small operation and also very good. I also saw somebody mentioned Earnest here in the Toledo area. But there are plenty more that are fantastic as well, personally I love Right Brain, but you won't find it outside Traverse City area. Founders, Bells, and New Holland are the biggest names and are damned good. Somebody above mentioned they hated whatever they tried from Michigan? Dunno what you had, but the Michigan craft beer scene is smoking hot, and largely superior to Ohio.
#Clustertruck cleveland series
THe Hop Madness was pretty good, Chillwave is good, and I still like Blackout Stout as well (it's not in the same class as the BORIS series though). We served Lake Erie Monster at our wedding so that will always have a special place in my heart. The seasonal 4 packs from GL are generally quite good though, with Nosferatu still ranking in my top 5 favorite beers. For their day to day offerings those are by far my favorite NEO breweries. I do absolutely love Hoppin' Frog though. Of course Hoppy Ales are my goto beers, and Fatheads knocks those out of the park. For my money I think Fatheads is my favorite. I'm not sure I completely agree with SOBO RE: Hoppin' Frog putting all other NE Ohio beers to shame. They post on FB when something new comes in and the first people to claim them get them.and of course I didn't see the posts until it was too late for both shipments.bummer.

They had some aged in Bourbon maple syrup barrels that I BADLY wanted to get my hands on a bomber, and the damned things sold out from my local beer shop in under 20 mins both times. Fred built his reputation on the brewery's line of Russian Imperial Stouts. The Frog's stouts are counted among the country's best, and I'm not overselling them.
